Hyre is the leading car sharing provider in the Nordics, allowing users to rent a car from their phones within minutes.

Their first model was a P2P concept where car owners would rent their cars to other users. For car owners, this was a source of profit. For users, it simplified the traditionally tedious car rental process and transferred it to an easy to use mobile app.

We first collaborated with Hyre in 2017 when we helped them to create an MVP of the P2P concept that was used during fundraising efforts.

Challenge

Increase workday bookings

The concept proved to be a success in Norway. Hyre scaled and moved into a B2C model offering vehicles first-hand.

A trend was noticed: cars would be fully booked on weekends and holidays, but demand would drop dramatically on workdays. If a person needed a car for work, their company would provide one through traditional rental companies.

Hyre needed to find a way to bridge this gap in demand, and in turn, scale their business.

New services, new platforms

Instead of hoping that clients would choose their cars on workdays, Hyre decided to offer their fleets directly to businesses.

New services required bespoke car sharing platforms with features designed to address needs and pain points that come with managing large fleets of employee vehicles.

Profico helped define, design and develop a total of 4 B2B car sharing platforms.

Efficiency by
design system

To ensure efficiency and easy scaling, our Frontend team created reusable React components, like tables and button groups, that were made up of other smaller components.

Using design tokens - abstract elements like colours, typography, spacings etc. - our Frontend team defined the behaviour and style of each component.

If, for example, a table needed to be inserted somewhere, it existed as a React component and it could be easily added anywhere.

Having entire elements as reusable React components accelerated development and minimised inconsistencies.

From the client’s point of view, a faster and more efficient workflow on our end means faster results and an accelerated time-to-market for their product.

Getting real time vehicle insights

One of the features consistent across all Hyre web platforms that allow car rental is damage reporting. Our design team created wire models of every available Hyre car for easy and intuitive damage reporting.
