Introduction

Wine rating and discovery

Vinify began in 2021 as a simple app for rating and saving wines at wine tastings.

The app quickly became popular in Norwegian wine circles and it was made available to anyone by popular demand.

Soon after release Vinify became a serious startup with the first upgrade: adding virtual wine cellars for displaying wine collections. This first full Vinify iteration was a wine discovery and rating platform for wine enthusiasts

Pivot into B2B

Within just a few months of adding cellars, Vinify was the #1 most downloaded app on the Norwegian Appstore.

When viewing a wine, the platform also displayed locations where they are available for purchase. Businesses created profiles and uploaded wine lists, using Vinify as a marketing channel.

Potential was recognized to turn Vinify into a powerful tool for wine businesses.

Scale the platform with Profico’s help

Vinify identified two major ways to bring value to businesses: enable them to easily perform powerful sales analytics and cut down operational man-hours with inventory management automations.

In close collaboration, we helped Vinify define, create, and implement these new features.

The pivot proved to be a success, but work is not done. Since first release in 2021, Vinify and Profico continue to collaborate and continually enhance functionality of the platform.

Vinify is used by restaurants and business to create virtual wine cellars by uploading lists of their wine stock.

The cellars display available wines to customers and allow restaurants to easily digitalise their inventory and turn it into actionable data.

Inventory management automation

Using VInify reduces manual time spent on inventory and pricing actions.

The platform offers automations such as stock counting and restocking , group price setting and adjustment, and direct POS integrations tracking live stock sales and levels.

Vinify functionalities on the go

Along with a web platform, Vinify is also available as a mobile app. App users get full access to all features allowing for insights and actions to be performed anywhere at any time.

The system is trained on three professional sommelier books, ensuring recommendations are insightful, accurate, and sommelier-grade.

Instant label scanning

With a quick photo of a wine label or barcode, users can instantly access details, ratings, and availability.

This AI-driven scanner makes discovering and exploring wines faster and more intuitive than ever.

AI cellar assistant

Inventory management through a chat interface. Users can review the contents of their cellar, update entries, and remove bottles directly via natural language commands.

AI batch import

Wine lists in formats such as spreadsheets, PDFs, or photos are processed automatically. The system extracts the information, structures it, and imports the wines directly into the user’s cellar, creating a ready-to-use digital inventory.

Admin AI tool

The internal admin tool offers full control over the wine database. Administrators can search, filter, and edit records, remove duplicates, and oversee data consistency.

Uploaded sources are interpreted and matched with existing entries to keep the database accurate and well structured.
